Dish Duty at the Reunion

The girls tell me that each family will be responsible for cleaning up after breakfast, lunch, drinks, and snacks at the reunion. Only disposable plates, utencils, and cups will be used. (Nikki is bringing these -- Thanks Nikki!) On their assigned nights, Ross, Kathy, Lynne, Don, and Adam will assist the cook to clean up the dinner preparation utencils, odds and ends, et cetera. Families will clear their own places and leave the table, chairs and surrounding floor clean. So, do we have this right?

Yes Dad, sounds like you've got it down. The family making the meal for the day can also help with unloading the dishwasher and taking out the trash that day, so you have more time for making our beds, folding our laundry, and vacuuming. Just kidding! With so many children around, we'll all have to take turns wiping down the table, but other than that I think you've got it! =)

Since Don has a new companion who normally attends to these typical kitchen chores is he obliged to participate in such activities??? His airline reservation is not yet confirmed!

We were just trying to organize things so people could both know when to help and when they could just walk away. It's no big deal there are plenty of people to clean up. You can help however you want. We haven't even met Don yet, of course he's off the hook! I'm so excited to meet him.

Last year I tried to help every sister get her dinner ready, because it is such a big job. Then I stayed and helped with clean up every night except one. The one night I walked away I felt so GUILTY. At the end of the week I had put in over 20 hours in the kitchen. Kathy also spent hours on clean-up every single night. I guess I thought that by asking for more help, it would give some of us permission to RELAX. But if it's a problem, please let me know. We can assign a sister (and or spouse) to help out with clean up on a night that's not hers to cook. Not a big deal.

Now you know a little bit about Don and his mischievous nature. Keep your eye on him! We both share chores here and we both look forward to sharing chores at Island Park.
